Zug is the capital of one of the smallest cantons in Switzerland.
At the end of the last century, the city of Zug rapidly expanded to become a financial and trading center of international importance.
Proximity and good connections with Zürich, followed by a quite attractive tax policy, largely contributed to its progress.

The older part of the town with its tightly packed antique buildings, stretching by the Zugersee (or Lake Zug), offers a fantastic opportunity for strolling, sightseeing, shopping, and dining, while enjoying picturesque sunsets over Lake Zug.
Be sure to visit the parish church of St. Oswald and the beautiful Town Hall, both the 15th-century buildings.
The church of St. Michael dates from the end of the 19th century and bears the name of the city’s patron.
It is by far the largest church in town and as it dominates the city’s landscape, it offers a wonderful view of Zug.
The Clock Tower with its 52 meters in height and its blue and white tiled roof is certainly a landmark of Zug.
First built as a part of the city walls (the clock was added much later), it had a variety of uses through history.
It is now open to the public and offers a marvelous view from the top.
The beautiful compound – a former residence of Capuchin monks for 400 years is a jewel of the Old Town.
The monastery is now owned by the Corporation of Zug and since 2000, it has been the formal residence of the Catholic Community.
